PLYC Regatta

Good winds and fast sailing in the annual Pelican Lake Regatta! We entered two boats (Sunfish class) this year with Mark in one and Mike and Leah in the other. Winds were 20-30mph out of the south, which brought big waves, warm temps and plenty of sunshine.

Highlights:

• Race 1: Mark forgot to bring his life jacket. Not good, but raced anyway. Got a PFD after the first race.
• Race 2: Mike slides across the deck and almost falls overboard - twice.
• Race 2: Mike breaks a halyard line and dropped the sail. Drifts to shore, rescued later with a tow back home.
• Race 3: Mark missed a jibe and lost grip of the rudder, almost capsized.
• 
  
• Race 3: Mark's halyard line comes untied with the finish line in sight - sail crashes in the water! Managed to take the mast down, re-string the halyard line and get the sail back up. Crossed the finish line first!
• Pirate theme regatta party at the Solomon's - two people dressed for it - Mark and Mike!

We took home some trophies - first and second!
